Once again, I present a cocktail with Aperol. This one is a take on the Aperol Sour, the Aperol Spritz and the Aperol Collins. The difference between this and the Aperol Sour and this one is that this has prosecco added to it. The difference between this and the Aperol Spritz is that this doesn’t have soda water and it uses a gin, Aperol and lemon base instead of just Aperol. The difference between this and the Aperol Collins is that it uses prosecco instead of soda water. What can be concluded from this is that it is similar to all the other three cocktails, but not quite the same. Which is the best? If you ask me, the one that I prefer is this one. It is a great cocktail that is similar to the classics. It combines bitterness, acidity and sweetness in a bubbly combination that is light and refreshing.
For me the Aperol Sour posted last week is according to me the ideal simple Aperol cocktail. The Aperol Sour is my go-to cocktail when I am ordering cocktails in the summer half of the year. The Aperol Collins is a perfect in-between when I don’t want to sacrifice a bottle of prosecco for a cocktail. However, this is what I would choose every time if I would get my perfect Aperol Cocktail. Unfortunately, both the Spritz and Sour are more popular, meaning that this cocktail that I have chosen to call the Alternative Aperol Spritz is a cocktail that I have never seen, though I have never looked for it either. Anyway, if I could get my way this would be the standard Aperol cocktail.
My Recipe:
- 1.5 oz (4.5 cl) Gin
- 1 oz (3 cl) Aperol
- 1 oz (3 cl) Lemon Juice
- 0.5 oz (1.5 cl) Simple Syrup
- 2-3 oz (6-9cl) Prosecco
Add the gin Aperol, lemon juice and simple syrup to a shaker with ice, shake and strain into a chilled Collins glass with ice. Add the prosecco and garnish with a lemon twist.
